William Lee Townley

Mr. William Lee Townley, age 76, of Dahlonega, GA died Sunday March 1, 2009 at the Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega following a sudden illness.
Mr. Townley was born in Dawson County September 4, 1932. He was a retired truck driver and was a member of Etowah Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
Mr. Townley was the son of the late Frank and Willie Mae Lemley Townley and was also preceded in death by a brother, Dean Townley.
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Charlie Brewer, Dahlonega, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Lee Townley, Ellenwood, GA; sister, Carlene Maxwell, Dahlonega, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and T.J. Cain, Dahlonega, GA; stepchildren and spouses, Betty and Billy Wells, Columbus, MS, Shirley and Wade Westbrook, Ronnie and Linda Williamson, and Lelia Goss, all of Dahlonega, GA, Rebecca Jones and Kay Burton, both of Dawsonville, GA. He is also survived by an uncle, Pink Townley, Oakwood, GA; grandson and wife, Steven and Teresa Dale, Granddaughter and husband, Sheri and Chad Bell. Eight great-grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Townley are scheduled for 1 PM Wednesday March 4, 2009 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega with Rev. Ronald Pruitt and Rev. Charles Grant officiating.
Interment will follow in the Etowah Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home all day on Tuesday starting at 11 AM.
