William H. (Bill) Chastain

Obituary Date: Sunday, March 1, 2009
William H. (Bill) Chastain, age 83 of Waverly Way, Gainesville, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 peacefully at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Sam Parsons and Reverend Bobby Brown will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 2, 2009 from 6 - 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Chastain was the son of the late Elmer and Nina Chastain. He was born in Hart County but lived most of his life in Gainesville. Mr. Chastain retired after forty-three years at Wofford Leather Company, where he was a master saddle maker. His hand crafted saddles were used by many people including Roy Rogers who used them for his personal use as well as in his movies. He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.

Mr. Chastain is survived by Mildred Lowery Chastain, beloved wife of 62 years, son and daughter-in-law, David and Karen Chastain, grandsons Chad Chastain and wife Teresa, Blake Chastain and fiancé Rose Espinosa, great-grandson Cooper Chastain, Brother-in-laws, Myron Turk and Ralph Butler, nieces and nephews and much loved extended family Rhonda, Tommy and Michael Allen.

Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2030 Memorial Park Road, Gainesville, GA 30504 is in charge of arrangements.
