Angelo John Simone

Obituary Date: Sunday, March 1, 2009
Angelo John Simone of Brooklyn New York passed away Sunday, March 1st, 2009. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Marie Cozzolino and his father, Demetrio Simone both immigrants from Calabria, Italy. John earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts at Cooper Union on a full scholarship. Upon graduation he served time in the Navy in WWII. He met and married Jean Dudley of Wrens Georgia while employed with the Veterans Administration. He worked full-time as a Branch manager of RCA while working towards a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration in Accounting.

He survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Catherine Simone; daughters and sons-in law, Virginia Simone of New York, Barbara and Muataz Jaber M.D. of New York, Jean Simone, M.D. and James Terry Bell, M.D. of Gainesville Georgia,and Teresa Simone of New York. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John Richard Simone, R.N,.B.SN and Sue Simone, R. N. of New Hampshire, Robert Simone of New York and David Bryan Simone and Lian Simone of Cumming Georgia. Also 18 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

John Simone was a practicing artist until the age of 90: therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Quinlan Visual Arts Center 514 Green Street, N.E.Gainesville, GA 30501 (770) 536-2575 and the Arts Council of Gainesville, 331 Spring St SW Gainesville, GA 30501 (770) 534-2787.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 5th, 2009 in New York. New York arrangements are being handled by Towers Funeral Home 2681 Long Beach Rd., Oceanside NY 11572. Little and Davenport Funeral Home, 355 Dawsonville Hwy. , Gainesville, Ga. is in charge of local arrangements.
