Donald Roden

Mr. Donald James Roden, 78 of Gainesville, Georgia died
peacefully with his family by his side on Feb. 11, 2009 at
the Northeast Georgia Medical Center after a courageous
battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
He was born on May 28, 1930 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa
to the late Cecil John and Gladys Gwendoline Beckly Roden.
He lived in South Africa most of his life. He had a
construction engineering degree and was the supervisor of
many large construction projects in South Africa. He
traveled extensively for both business and pleasure. He had
a love of nature and animals. Mr. Roden was involved in
sheep farming for ten years. He also was an avid wine
collector. Mr. Roden was a talented artist and painted
often. His other interests were cooking, gardening,
crossword puzzles and being with his wife and family. He was
a devoted husband and grandfather.

Survivors include: Wife, Kathryn Davis Roden of Gainsville,
GA, Stepsons and wives, Michael and Robin Taylor of
Jacksonville, FL, Kent and Allison Taylor of Alpharetta, GA,
Stepdaughter Kathryn and Mike Begg of Dallas, GA,
Grandchildren, Mason and Lindsay Taylor, Kaylee, Kendall and
Kamryn Taylor, Mitchell, Charlie and Sarah Begg, Sister,
Evelyn Roy of Cape Town, South Africa, Brother, Basil Roden
of Durban, South Africa.

Private Family memorial will be held Feb. 22, 2009
