Betty Jean Gunn Davis

Betty Jean Gunn Davis, age 64 of Clarkesville, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Habersham Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Born in Habersham County on December 7, 1944 she was the daughter of Mildred Free Gunn and the late Fred Gunn. Mrs. Davis enjoyed working in her yard, gardening and fishing. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband Young Davis and her sister Virginia Cook.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Clint Chitwood of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, William and Lisa Vandergriff of Clarkesville; mother, Mildred Free Gunn of Demorest; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Peggy Gunn of Demorest; brother, Ronnie Gunn of Alto; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Willie D. Wheeler of Demorest; sister, Dorothy Parrish of Loganville; grandchildren, Hannah and her husband Brandon DeMore, Kayla Chitwood, Cody Vandergriff; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 09, 2009 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Wilford Dean and Rev. Steve McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow at Amyâ
