John W. Massey, Jr.

Ivie Funeral Home announces services for John W. Massey, Jr., 58, of Commerce, who died on Monday at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Clarke County, GA, he was the son of Frances Crane Massey and the late John Wilton Massey, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Gene Massey. John worked with Olen Construction Co. as a Construction Supervisor.

Survivors, along with his mother, include wife of the residence, Shirley Jarrett Massey; daughter and son-in-law, Jami and Nathan Jensrud of Ft. Collins, Colorado; son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Christie Massey of Commerce; sisters, Brenda G. Harris of Cornelius, NC and Nancy Worley of Nicholson; and grandson, Braxton James Massey.

Funeral services for John Massey, Jr. will be conducted on Thursday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Herbert, Rev. Carlton Peters and Rev. Dan Fuller officiating. The body will then be cremated. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. Pallbearers will be brothers-in-law and nephews and honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Olen Construction Company.
