Loma Palmer Taylor

Memorial Park Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Loma Palmer Taylor, age 92, of Hudson Drive, Gainesville who passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Peachtree Plantation following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, February 01, 2009 in the Chapel of Memorial Park, with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.


Mrs. Taylor was born May 26, 1916 in Hall County, Georgia to the Joseph William Palmer and Emma Grindle Palmer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Mark Taylor, Jr.


Mrs. Taylor was a senior adult who had given more than 50 years in serving Christ through First Baptist Church activities. She was a charter member of the Advance Study Club, member and had served as president of the Gainesville Business and Professional Women's Club; and in 1968 was awarded the "Woman of Achievement" award with the Gainesville B&PW Club. She also served as president of Delta Kappa Gamma, and was active in NEA, GTA, and PTA.


Survivors include her brothers, Joseph William "Joe" Palmer of Dahlonega and James Edward "Jim" Palmer of Clermont.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to First Baptist Church Ministry of Caring Fund, 751 Green Street N W, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
