Mae Smith Pruitt

Mae Smith Pruitt, age 83 of Baldwin, GA passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2009.

Mrs. Pruitt was born in Abbeville, SC on March 28, 1925 to the late Oscar and Clara Baldwin Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul W. Pruitt, 5 brothers, and 1 sister. Mrs. Pruitt was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, was a hairstylist for many years, and an avid gardener.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Robert Stalnaker, McDonough, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Gail Pruitt, Cornelia, GA; sisters, Myra Williams, Ora Belle Worrels, Mildred McClain, all of Donalds, SC and Lula Hanks, Honea Path, SC; brother, Oliver Smith, Gastonia, NC; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009 at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Vandiver, Rev. Wendell Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Cliff Baird officiating. Mrs. Pruitt will lie in state from 12:30 until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, GA on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from 6-8 p.m., and again on Thursday, January 29, 2009 from 6-8 p.m.

Flowers are accepted and memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church, 5223 US Hwy 441 North, Baldwin, GA 30511.
