John William Criss

Mr. John William Criss, 85 of Gainesville died Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A native of Mississippi, Mr. Criss was the son of the late Randolph and Annis Wortham Criss. He was a former resident of Atlanta for over 30 years before moving to Gainesville 12 years ago. Mr. Criss was CEO of Criss Properties and had served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Criss was a member of the First Baptist Church on Green
Street.

Survivors include his wife; Flo Criss, Gainesville; daughter & son-in-law; Flo and J.D.Smith, Gainesville; Grandchildren; Brian Smith, Decatur and Joanna Smith, Atlanta. A number of neices and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday January 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church Chapel on Green Street. The Rev. Dr. Bill Coates will officiate. The
family will receive friends in the church parlor after the service.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the 3rd Century Campaign at First Baptist Church, 751 Green Street, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
