R.L. Funderburk

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00pm on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Pond Fork Baptist Church for R.L. Funderburk, age 78, of Maysville. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. The Rev. Johnny Knight will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 16th & Saturday, January 17th from 7pm-9pm both nights. Mr. Funderburk passed away on Friday, January 16th at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Funderburk was born October 9, 1930 in Jackson County to the late Albert & Rosa Mae Funderburk. He was a painter and a member of Pond Fork Baptist Church. Mr. Funderburk is preceded in death by his children Brenda Gene Bruce, Johnny Lee Funderburk, Connie Arlene Funderburk.

Mr. Funderburk is survived by his wife Nina Lee Funderburk of Maysville; son James Funderburk of Maysville; daughters Nola Kathleen Gregory and Julie Ann Reed both of Jacksonville, Fl., Carol Sue Mensik and Nina Mae Funderburk both of Maysville; brothers L.C. Funderburk of Jefferson, T.W. Funderburk, J.W. Funderburk, and Johnny Funderburk all of Pendergrass, Gene Funderburk of Clayton, Larry Funderburk of Toccoa; sisters Sadie Strange of Covington, Hazel Nix, Fannie Lance, and Ruby Franklin all of Pendergrass; 26 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
