David Perry Martin

David Perry Martin, age 61, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2009 in Gainesville. Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Little & Davenport Chapel; 355 Dawsonville Hwy, Gainesville, GA. Rev. Earl Pirkle and Rev. Boone Strickland will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, January 12, 2009 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at Little & Davenport, 355 Dawsonville Hwy, Gainesville, GA.

He was born November 3, 1947, in Gainesville and was the son of the late Howard Hamilton and Inez Maebelle Dalton Martin.

As a graduate of Gainesville High School, David was a member of the 1966 Gainesville High Red Elephant football team that won the Northeast Georgia Championship. During that 10-2 season, he set both the single season rushing yards and points scored records that stood for 30 years. He was also named Georgia AA State Back of the Year.
