Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. William Franklin Holcomb, age 74 of Cleveland. Mr. Holcomb passed away Saturday, January 03, 2009 at his residence following a sudden illness. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from Green Meadows Gardens in Conyers with the Rev. Clifford Allen officiating
Born in Culbert, Georgia on May 21, 1932 Mr. Holcomb was the son of the late Jeff Holcomb and Sarah Little Holcomb. He served with honor in the United States Air Force and retired from Ryder P.I.E. Transport with 30 years service and numerous safety awards.
He also served with honor in the United State Air Force and was a member of the VFW as well as the Local 728 Teamsters Union He is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Watkins
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Holcomb of Cleveland; daughters, Linda Collier, Orlando, Fl.; Carolyn Knight, Claxton; daughter and son in law, Lena & Benji Kennedy also of Claxton; son & daughter in law, Orvil and Lisa Hodges of Claxton,
Brothers, Harold Holcomb of Hartwell and Stan Holcomb of Hull; sister Linda Moon of Anderson, S.C.. Mr. Holcomb is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 to 9:00
