Asa Dorsey

Rev. Asa Dorsey, age 93 of Cleveland, passed away Friday January 2, 2009 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Rev. Dorsey was born on September 22, 1915 to the late Albert and Annie Bethel Dorsey in White County. He was preceded in death by his wife Annie Kate Dorsey; son Leethel Dorsey; daughter Desma Love. Rev. Dorsey was in the ministry for 76 years where he served as pastor for 10 churches in the Northeast Georgia area. He was a member of Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church.

Survivors include sons and daughters in law Sharrell and Sherill Dorsey,Anniston, Al: Thandel and Sakeo Dorsey Blythewood, SC, Bradley and Sandra Dorsey Cleveland, Phillip and Cheryl Dorsey, Cobb; daughters and sons in law Trilla and L.C. Pruitt Cleveland, Fonda and Allen Riley Cobb; daughter and son in law Miriam and Dan Vandiver Lula and 20 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009 from the Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church. The Rev. Paul Flynn, Rev, J.D. Sosebee and Mr. Larry Fricks will officiate. Interment will follow in Zion Interdenominational Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12-4 and 6-9 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
