Gladys Sisk Burke

Obituary Date: Friday, December 12, 2008
Hillside Memorial Chapel announces the death of Mrs. Gladys Sisk Burke, age 93, of Clarkesville, who passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 following an extended illness.



Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, December 14, 2008 from the Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville with Reverend
Mike Irvin, Reverend Steve Mereck, Reverend Bobby Burke and Reverend Austin Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Amy's Creek Baptist Church cemetery.



Born in Habersham County on January 31, 1915, Mrs. Burke was the daughter of the late William E. and Anna Simmons Sisk. She was a part of the body of Christ since August of 1927 and was a faithful member of Amy's Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Burk was a a school teacher for 36 years, beginning in the one room school house in Amy's Creek in 1939.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burke was preceded in death by her husband Albert N. Burke; sons, Ansel, John, Edmund, Billy Lafayette, Crawford Lamar and Roy Lee Burke; grandson, Daniel Albert Burke and great-granddaughters Teresa Stamey, Tina Cathon, and
Ginger Kind.



Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Loy and Sharon Burke; Lawrence and Shirley Burke; daughter and son--in-law, Betty and James Trotter; all of Clarkesville; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren.



The family will receive friend at Hillside Memorial Chapel, 5495 Highway 197 South, Clarkesville from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Saturday, December 13, 2008.
