Aliene Whitmire "Punkie" Stevens

Mrs. Aliene Whitmire "Punkie" Stevens, 87 of Britt Whitmire Road, Gainesville died Sunday December 30, 2007.

A native and lifelong resident of Hall County, Mrs. Stevens was the daughter of the late Joseph Britten and Nancy Couch Whitmire. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Mrs. Stevens is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Bradford Stevens.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Doug Adams, Clermont, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Martha Stevens, Gainesville, Ga., Wesley and Beverly Stevens, Oakwood, Ga.; grandchildren, Steven and Holly Woodall, Ellijay, Ga., Britt and Lorie Stevens, Gainesville, Ga., Joel and Tasha Stevens, Gainesville, Ga,, Kim Stevens, Alpharetta, Ga., Shanni and Scott Walker, Gainesville, Ga., Shanna and Spencer Martin, Gainesville, Ga., Kellie Stevens, Gainesville, Ga. 10 Great Grandchildren. Sister; Leona Nix, Clermont, Ga.; brother-in-law, Jack Stevens, Gainesville, Ga.; and sister-in-law, Irene Holman, Gainesville, Ga.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. The Rev. Verner London and the Rev. Steve Baker will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Lawson officiating. The body will lie in state at the church on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Mason & Ward Funeral Home, 1190 McEver Road, from 6-8 p.m. Monday December 31, 2007 and again Tuesday January 1, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
