Mrs. Thelma Lawson Ravan

Mrs. Thelma Lawson Ravan, age 90, of Mount Vernon Road, Gainesville, died Thursday, February 26, 2004 at her residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, February 29, 2004 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Baker officiating. The body will lie in state in the church from 1:30 until the funeral hour. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Friday, and also on Saturday from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM.
A life long resident of Hall County, Mrs. Ravan was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Bell Kimsey Lawson. She was retired from the Hall County School System as a teacher with 38 years of service. Mrs. Ravan was a member of the Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover C. Ravan.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Sybil and Homer Durham; Wyndall Allison; Ruth Copeland; Elizabeth and Larry Whelchel; all of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Linda Ravan, Clermont; grandchildren, Wystan and Margie Copeland; Cameron and Rebecca Durham; Amy and Laird Miller; Natasha Copeland, all of Gainesville; Sonya and David Kelley; Holly and Robbie Blanchard; all of Clermont; great grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, Zachary, Abigail and Hannah Kelley; Avery and Tristan Blanchard; Nathanael and Jerrica Copeland; and Hattie Caroline Durham; sisters, Mamie Abernathy, Clarkesville; MaybelleLee and Norma Puckett, both of Gainesville; sisters-in-law, Ada Mansy, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; and Frances Rhuna Ravan, Gainesville. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Mount Vermon Baptist Chuch Building Fund, c/o Shirley Allison, 4870 Jess Helton Road, Gainesville, GA 30506.
