Maudell Stringer Thomas of Cleveland died Saturday,April 3,2004 at the Lanier Park campus of Northeast Ga. Medical Center in Gainesville following an extended period of declining health,she was 82.
Mrs Thomas who was born in Lumpkin Co. but lived most of her life in White Co. she was a daughter of the late Alex and Cora Bell Kanady Stringer.She was preceeded in death by her parents;a brother,Alex Stringer,Jr.;a sister,Willie Lou Thomas;a son,Carl Randy Thomas;and her husband of 52 years,Rev. Riley Thomas Sr.all of cleveland.
She was a homemaker and a well-known local artist.She was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church in Cleveland.
Survivors include three sons and daughter-in-law,Quentin and Gail Thomas;Ronald and Trina Thomas;and Buster and Faye Thomas;one daughter and son-in-law,La Venier and Jerry Hicks,all of Cleveland;sisters Mabel Head;Grace Nix,Dorothy Smith and Geneva Taylor;brother-in-law,Seaborn nix,George Taylor and Charlie Thomas,Sr.sister-in-law,Lula Thomas,all of Cleveland;grandchildren,Bart Mize,Casey thomas,Carla Thomas,Chase Thomas all of Cleveland,Kelli Mullis of Arkansas,Natalie Hancock of Okalahoma and Christian Thomas of Texas;great-grandchildren,Cody Poteete and Savannah Mize of Cleveland;and Baily Mullis of Arkansas.In addition she is survived by special caregiver Janet Pinson of Cleveland and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled at 4pm Sunday,April 4,2004 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home in Cleveland with burial at Mt.View Baptist Church cemetery following the Rev. Chris Anderson,Rev. Dave Fortner and Rev. Jimmy Palmer officiating.Visitation will be sunday from 1-4pm at Barretts Funeral Home.
