Mrs. Carre Neter Oliver Bailey

Mrs. Carre N. Bailey, age 81, Gainesville,GA, passed away Saturday, Aug, 7,2004, at the New Horizon's North Health Care Facility.
Mrs. Bailey lived her entire life in Gainesville,GA. She was a member of Rucker Memorial Baptist Church and the Pan African Orthodox Christian Church of Atlanta, GA, where she served willingly and eagerly on the usher boards and other church organizations.
Mrs. Bailey was a graduate of the Industrial School in Gainesville and attended Morris Brown College. By profession, she was a Cosmetologist and was the first person to introduce to the state of Georgia "The Christina Jenkins Hair Weave System." She is only a handful of people to hold a PHD in Cosmetology and was intrumental in the beginnings of the Bronner Brothers Beauty Show in Atlanta, where she taught the techniques of the Hair Weave System.
Community-wise, Mrs. Bailey devoted her life to helping and improving her surroundings. She started the first chapter of the Housewives League of Gainesville, which she was the first president. She also served diligently in Zeta Phi Lambda Sorority for Christian Women, The Unity School of Christianity, the Atlanta Beauty Culture League and the American Legion Women's Auxillary.
But by far,she enjoyed working with young people the most. She would always say, "Kids aren't bad,they just need to be loved." She conducted many classes, workshops and pageants such as Man in Demand, Christian Charm and the Tom Thumb Wedding. She was instrumental in bringing the Ebony Fashion Fair to Gainesville, which showcased the young people on the same stage witht eh models of the Ebony Fashion Fair. Her annual benefit for the Sickle Cell Foundation consisted of a Salad Festival and Black History Program.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am Wednesday, August 11,2004, at Rucker Memorial Baptist Church on Floyd Road, where Rev. William Garrison is pastor. Rev. J.C. Teasley will deliver the eulogy. Interment will be in Alta Vista Cemetery.
Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 10,2004, fro 7-8 pm at Rucker Memorial Baptist Church on Floyd Road.
Survivors include: sons, Maxie and Rojene; daugther-in-law, Ruth; grandchildren, Terence,Linda,Sheryl & Denise; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Dorothy Rucker, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
