Mrs. Villa Inez "Chubby" Dowdy
Obituary Date: Friday, April 15, 2005
Mrs. Villa Inez "Chubby" Dowdy has been missing and presumed dead since September 1, 1993. Her remains were found in Lumpkin County on February 6, 2005.
She was born in Tampa, Florida December 5, 1950 and had lived in Lumpkin County for many years. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Dowdy preceded in death by her Son: Tom Dowdy, her Mother: Fannie Odell Self Adams, Sister: Martha Tridico, and Brothers: Jimmy Adams, Earl Adams, and Barnell Adams.
She is survived by her Husband: David Dowdy, Dahlonega, Ga., Daughters and son in laws: Shelia and Michael Smeltzer, Dahlonega, Ga., April and Jonathan McCallister, West Virginia, Makala and Chris Lingerfelt, Dahlonega, Ga., Son and daughter in law: Allan and Krista Dowdy, Dahlonega, Ga., Father: Homer Adams, Gainesville, Texas, Sisters: Rose Morelli , Beaver Creek, Oregon, Lee Bowshier, Urbana, Ohio, Malinda Roaden, Gainesville, Texas, Jeanette Kahler, Box Springs, Ga., Brothers: Johnny Adams, Dahlonega, Ga., and Gene Adams, Dahlonega, Ga., Grandchildren: Michael Jacob Smeltzer, Harley, Malloree, and Kinsey Lingerfelt, Angel, Stetson, McCallister, and Krisha Dowdy. A large number of other relatives also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4 P.M. Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mark Stroud and Rev. Johnny Garrett will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 1 P.M. until 6 P.M.
Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega is in charge of the arrangements.
