Leonard Dalton

Leonard Dalton, 91, of Commerce, formerly of Jefferson, died Tuesday following a brief illness.

He was the son of the late Oscar Charles Dalton and Lottie Key Dalton. He worked at Kings Bridge Road Compactor Site for Jackson County after his retirement from Harmony Grove Mills. He also was preceded in death by his son, Bradley Dalton.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Davis Dalton, Commerce; daughters, Kathie Dalton, Atlanta, and Beverly Wood, Commerce; sisters, Vada Craig, North Carolina, Rena Mae Sealey, Walnut Grove, and Betty Jo Gulley, Eatonton; brothers, Billy Dalton, Jefferson, Bobby Hugh Dalton, Kennesaw, and Jim Dalton, North Carolina; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2005, at the chapel of Evans Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Manus will officiate.Serving, as pallbearers will be, Brent Wood, Bryan Wood, Mark Bowen, Rich Friedman, Roger Jackson and Tommy Gerald Griffin. Interment will be in Jackson Memorial Park.
