William Dorsey Morgan

Mr. William Dorsey Morgan, age 87, of Turnerville, Ga., died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, following an extended illness.
Mr. Morgan was born in Franklin County, Ga., on Dec. 23, 1917, to the late Will and Clifford Youngblood Morgan. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Turnerville, Ga. Mr. Morgan was a Veteran of WWII, having served as a Sergeant in the
United States Army, and had the honor to serve as a driver for General Douglas MacArthur. After serving his country, Mr. Morgan began his career as a life long farmer.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Morgan. Brother, Thomas Morgan, and sister, Marie Rodacker.
Survivors include: one daughter, Linda Morgan, Sugar Hill, Ga., two sisters, Aline Hickman, Turnerville, Ga., Lois Franklin, Clarkesville, Ga. Four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Sunday, Oct. 23,2005, from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Ga., with the Rev. Hal Cason and Rev. Russ Barker officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the Rabun County DAV Chapter 15 and Habersham County American Legion Post 84.
The family will receive friends from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, from 6 pm until 9pm on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to: The American Cancer Society, C/O Barbara Fortenberry, 2062 Hwy. 115, Demorest,Ga. 30535.
