David Oliver Baird

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 22,2006 from the Chapel of Little-Davenport Funeral Home for David Oliver Baird, 59, of Gainesville, GA. Mr. Baird died Tuesday, June 20,2006 at his residence following an extended illness. The Rev. Larry Dyer will officiate with interment to follow at Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 21, from 6-9 p.m.

David was born in Jackson County to the late James Walter Baird and Daisy Whitfield Baird. He married Jackie on July 28, 1967. Together they build their home and business in Gainesville. David was a loving husband,dad, grandpa and brother. He was the owner of Ultimate Business Machines, Inc. since 1972.

A man of many hobbies, David was a founding member and current committee member of the North Georgia Traditional Archery Club. He was also a committee member of the Foothills Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, and was an accomplished woodworker specializing in traditional bows and box turkey calls.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Baird; daughter, Christy McKnight and her husband Sam; grandsons Sammy, Bryan and Tony; son, Cecil Baird, his loving companion Jodey Keeling, and her children, Hayley and Cameron; brother, Perry Baird and his wife Linda; sister, Nancy Nunn and her husband Ralph; sister, Joyce Baird; sister Sandra Wilson and her husband Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
