Thomas E. "Tom" Crane

McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Thomas E. "Tom" Crane, age 86, of Clarkesville who died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at a private healthcare facility following a brief illness.

Born in Habersham County January 09, 1921, he was the son of the late Ben and Pearl Sosebee Crane. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during World War II; and was a Mason and a lifetime member of VFW Post #7720.

Mr. Crane was retired from Ford Motor Company, and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Hite; brothers, Marvin "Tookie" Crane, William "Doc" Crane and Wesley Crane; and sister, Elizabeth "Dood" Crane.

Survivors include her sister, Ila Mae Haney, Clarkesville; nephews, Tony Crane and Steve Crane, both of Clarkesville; nieces, Beth Smith and Kathy Haney, both of Clarkesville.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, June 16, 2007, from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Reverend Mike Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, June 15, 2007.
