Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, Georgia announces the death of Mr. Robert Emmett Yates, age 75, of Jefferson, Georgia who passed away on Thursday June 14, 2007 following an extended illness. He was born on September 15, 1931 in Chicago, ILL the son of the late Thomas F. Yates and Katherine Hazelrigg Harnisch. Mr. Yates retired after 37 years with Bell South, was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Flowery Branch, GA, member of American Legion Tinley Park Post #615 in Illinois, member of Telephone Pioneers, NRA and was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. A brother, Thomas Yates, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Beverly Schellhorn Yates, Jefferson, GA; Daughters and sons in law, Patricia and Robert Anton, Dania Beach, FL and Karen and Michael York, Bow, N.H.; Son and daughter in law, Robert and Kim Yates, Jr. Jefferson, GA; Sister, Dora Niehaus, FL; Brothers, David Yates, FL, Donald Yates, New York, Richard Yates, ILL, James Yates, GA and Frank Yates, FL; 7 grandchildren, Robert Yates III, Lyndsey Yates, Krystal York, Taylor York, Michael York, Robert Anton and Rebecca Anton;

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday June 16, 2007 at 1:30 pm from Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Flowery Branch, GA with Father Fred Wendel officiating.
