Mattie Nell Moore, 85, of Gainesville, GA, went home to be with the Lord on September 07, 2025, surrounded by the comfort of her home and family.
Mattie had a gift for seeing the beauty of God’s creation in everything around her. She found joy in her flowers and delight in watching the birds, simple treasures that reflect the care and attention she gave to those around her.
Born on August 15, 1940, Mattie lived a life defined by strength, selflessness, and love. She gave herself fully to her family, tending lovingly to her father, mother, and eldest son, exemplifying a heart of sacrifice and devotion that continues to inspire all who knew her.
The words of her favorite Scripture, Psalm 23, reflect both the courage she carried and the care she extended to others:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.”
Just as these words brought her peace, Mattie gave peace, strength, and comfort to all who were blessed to be loved by her.
Her greatest joy and accomplishment was her family. She is survived by her sons, Ted, Jimmy, and Ricky Moore; her grandchildren, Ashley (Charles) Jordan, Jessi (Justin) Puchalski, Lindsey (Chris) Flanigan, and Blake Moore; and her great-grandchildren, Raegan and Sutton Flanigan, and River Jordan. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Jane Millwood; and her beloved siblings Larry Millwood, Kenneth Millwood, Charles Millwood, George Millwood, Millard Millwood, Mamie Gooch, and Vera Harrold. She held a lifelong bond with several of their spouses, who remained dear to her.
Mattie will be remembered as a woman of resilience, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her legacy of love and care lives on in the generations she leaves behind.
