Quentin “Rico/Duck” Shirley

Quentin “Rico/Duck” Shirley, a loving son, caring brother and wonderful friend passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025. Quentin was born September 2,1969 in Gretna Florida to Betty Jean Colman and Freddie Carter. Proceeded in death by his Grandmother Inez Coleman Faison and Father Freddie Carter. Survived by his mother Betty Jean Coleman, two son Conner Shirley and Thomas Bruce, brother Ronald Eugene Shirley, East Hartford, Connecticut, sisters Sherryl Shirley Jackson (Andrew) of Gillsville, Georgia and Angela Wade Moon (Corey) of Braselton. A host nieces, nephews, and cousins and a host of special friends. Quentin moved to Gainesville Georgia in 1985 with his family from Quincy, Florida.
 
Rico to his friends, Duck to his family has always been the life of the room. He never met a stranger. He loved family and people. Quentin was uplifting to everyone he met. He loved to make the people around him laugh and smile. When Rico became ill, he chose to live his life on his own terms. Living every day to the fullest. Calling those he loved daily or as often as possible.
 
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Wimberly Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 PM. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Wimberly Funeral Home Chapel  between the hours of 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM.  Professional Service Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
