Danny Nolan Harris

Obituary Date: Wednesday, August 27, 2025

Mr. Danny Nolan Harris, age 72 of Gainesville, passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2025, after a brief battle with ALS. Throughout his struggle, he maintained his well-known slapstick humor and positive, grateful attitude.  His family was blessed daily to be with him through this difficult journey.

A member of Lakewood Baptist Church, he spent many prior years serving in music and youth ministry at various churches throughout the area.  He continued to use his beautiful voice to bless others until he physically could not.  A lifelong grocer, he retired from Publix in 2024 after 27 years. Throughout life, he enjoyed road trips as often as possible and was known to drive to the beach or mountains just to enjoy the scenery and return home on the same day. In his free time, he enjoyed athletics of all varieties, but finally settled on his favorite, golf, through which grew a new “round” of friends via private play and his Senior Golfers Association of Atlanta membership.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents, John Nolan and Daisy Turk Harris and sister, Donna Hulsey. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shelia Harris of Gainesville, GA; daughter, Victoria “Vicki” Budd of Homer, GA; son, Steven Harris of Clyde, NC; bonus son, Josh Baker of Kokomo, IN; grandchildren, Brianna Budd, Conner Budd, Landry Alexander, & Lark Harris; and great-grandchildren, Gaia & Sebastian; mother-in-law Evelyn Coker; brother-in-law, David Hulsey; brothers and sisters-in-law Emory and Ginny Coker, Mitch and Pam Reddick; a very loved extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a multitude of friends who have become family.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Officiants include Rev. Scott Wilson, Dr. Tyler Smiley and Mr. David Dillard. The family will receive friends 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the funeral home.  Golf attire is appropriate.
