Reverend Clifton Boone Strickland

Rev. Clifton Boone Strickland, 79, of Gainesville, Ga., passed away on Aug. 24, 2025, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 3:30 PM in the Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be held at the Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Reverend Mike Taylor will officiate the service.

A lifelong resident of Gainesville, Ga., Mr. Strickland was born on July 12, 1946, to C.C. and Ruby Strickland. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann Strickland; son and daughter-in-law, David and Caroline Strickland; grandchildren, Micah and Miranda Strickland, and sister, Jean Farmer; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and mother; and brothers, Robert Strickland, William Strickland and Boyd Strickland; and sister Johnnie Sue Wilson. 

Mr. Strickland is known to many in the community from more than 40 years as sales manager of Barry Menswear, a place where people not only left well-dressed, but well-informed on the city’s history and where Mr. Strickland could share his love of friendship and community.

Mr. Strickland is also very well known for his work in service of his Lord, and the Baptist Church. An associate pastor, deacon, teacher, and active member in many leadership roles with Central Baptist Church in Gainesville, he devoted his second career in dedication of the church. He established the Adult I Class at CBC, guest ministered when needed and worked often as a mentor and counsel. He also led a weekly bible study at Lakes Assisted Living in Gainesville.  An ordained minister, Rev. Strickland was a 2006 graduate of the Southern Bible Institute and Seminary of Augusta, Ga., where he received a bachelor’s degree of theology.

Mr. Strickland, a 1966 graduate of Gainesville High School, was also a Freemason past master of Stone Lodge 715, a 32^nd degree Scottish Rite, York Rite and Shriner with the Yaarab Temple of Atlanta.

Mr. Strickland greatly loved his family, his church work, and his community. A very respected Gainesville leader, he will be deeply missed by his close family and friends.
