On the morning of August 16, 2025, surrounded by her family, Elizabeth Louise Kalbing, left us to be with the Lord. She was 86 years old. She was born to Walter and Margaret Merriam on May 29, 1939 in Norwalk, Connecticut and was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harold Alex Kalbing Sr and her son Harold Alex Kalbing Jr.
In her high school years, Elizabeth and her family moved to Tampa, Florida where she met and married her husband, Harold. He was stationed at Mac Dill Air Force Base at the time. Elizabeth and her husband went on to live in different states over the years such as Wisconsin, Connecticut, and Florida. After her husband’s death in August of 2014, Elizabeth moved to Cleveland, Georgia to live near her daughter and son-in-law, David and Dawn.
As one of 6 children, Elizabeth grew up a tomboy who loved to make others laugh and was full of mischief. Some of her fondest memories as a child were times spent with her dad on their boat.
Elizabeth was a dedicated wife and mother first and foremost. She enjoyed working in the garden, sewing, crocheting, and arts and crafts. Her favorite times were spent on the beach or by the pool with her family. She enjoyed tennis and bowling. Elizabeth and her husband were also active in the local DAV in St Petersburg, Florida.
