Albert Sykes, Jr., age 82, of Murrayville, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born in Tampa, Florida, on January 14, 1943, to the late Albert Lee Sykes, Sr. and Betty Parrish Sykes. In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his son, Albert Lee Sykes III, and his stepchildren, Scott and Shawna Anderson.
Albert is survived by his loving wife, Sue Cain Sykes; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Michael Wallace of Quitman, Georgia; son, William “Bill” Edward Sykes of Quitman, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Charlie Arnold of Crestview, Florida; brother, Andrew Sykes of Quitman, Georgia; sister, Linda Sykes Moseley of Alexandria, Virginia; special relatives Trent and Missy Cain; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
He was a member of Atlanta Road Church of Christ in Gainesville, a passionate and skilled golfer, and a diehard Alabama Crimson Tide fan. Known for his kind spirit, and unwavering love for those dear to him, Albert lived a life rooted in faith, family, and friendship.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Chapel of Anderson Underwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Kris Butler and Dr. Ted Garner officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 14, 2025, and from 11:00 AM to service hour on Friday at the funeral home.
