Laura Ann McCown

Laura Ann McCown, age 81, of Demorest, Georgia formerly of Hueytown, Alabama passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Mrs. McCown was born January 11, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Ollie Jack Cost and Frances Eileen Lonergan Cost. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Hyde McCown, and sister, Peggy Joyce (William) Austin.

She was a very active member of the First Methodist Church of Hueytown participating in many of the church's groups and activities. She was a Lioness with the Hueytown Chapter of the Lions Club. She loved to travel and go RV camping as well as tending to her flower garden.

Survivors include sisters, Jacueline Eileen (Fulton) Gothard, Elba, AL, Frances Susan (Fred) Manning, Columbiana, AL,; nieces and nephews, Christopher (Annie-Laurie) Austin, Demorest, GA, Stephanie (Bobby) Helms, Chelsea, AL, Scott (Shelley) Manning, of Alabama, Lori (Donnie) Holcomb, Elba, AL, several great nieces and nephews as well as several other great great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2025 at the First Methodist Church of Hueytown with Pastor John Verciglio officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will received friends from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., Friday, August 15, 2025 at the church prior to the service.
