David Marvin Irvin

Obituary Date: Monday, August 11, 2025

David Marvin Irvin, age 78, of Cornelia, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025.

Born on March 13, 1947 to the late Marvin Irvin and Mary Jo Locke Irvin, David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He graduated from Piedmont College with a degree in mathematics and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Following his service, David joined his family in operating Irvin Lumber Company, where he worked for much of his life, faithfully carrying on the family business. He was a dedicated servant of the Lord, having served as a deacon at both Level Grove Baptist Church and Cornelia First Baptist Church. David enjoyed restoring classic Mustangs and spent countless hours restoring and rebuilding his cars with skill and care - a pastime he enjoyed alongside his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Wilma Jean Harris Irvin. David and Jean built a life grounded in love, faith, and family, and we rejoice in knowing they are reunited in the presence of their Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, James & Lori Irvin of Cornelia; daughter & son-in-law, Kathy & Brad Meredith of Demorest; grandchildren, Joseph & Mary Meredith, Jake Meredith, Kaley Irvin, Emily Irvin, & Ava Meredith; honorary grandchildren, Justin & Dustin Dodd; sister, Norma Irvin of Cleveland; sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Lynn and Marvin Coffee of Cornelia, and Kay McEachern of Demorest; nieces, Beth Rasnick, Kristin Schupp, Mary Beth Simmons, and Kelly Crunk; numerous other relatives, and a host of friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Level Grove Baptist Church, with Dr. Brian James officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Habersham Christian Learning Center, 188 Owens Circle, Mt. Airy, Georgia 30563.
