Peggy Joe Free Barron

Peggy Joe Free Barron, age 82 of Clarkesville, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025.

Born in Lyman, South Carolina on January 30, 1943, Mrs. Barron was the daughter of the late Vance A. and Minnie Dean Free.  Mrs. Barron worked the majority of her career in sewing and the garment industry.  She enjoyed making various clothes and crafts as well cooking and fishing.  Mrs. Barron was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barron is preceded in death by her husband Cosby Lee Barron, brothers Benton Free, Gerald Free, Norris Free, and sister Ann Free.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law Joe and Sharon Barron of Clarkesville, daughter and son in law Shari and Roger Franklin of Mt. Airy, brother Larry Free of Clarkesville, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three great – great grandchildren, as well as many cousins and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Larry Free, officiating. Interment will follow the service in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Tuesday from 12-2 PM.
