Jan Rice

Jan Rice, 68, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away Tuesday August 5, 2025 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 8, 1956 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Louis and Jane Raben, Jan had been a resident of Gainesville for the past 6 years.  She made her home across numerous locations throughout her life including Columbus, Georgia; Savannah, Georgia; and Dallas, Texas.  She was a loving, selfless and devoted wife and mother who spent her career as a neonatal nurse saving babies and raising her kids.  Jan will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Chris Rice of Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Erin Cantalini (Justin) of Clayton, Georgia, Haley Hartmann (Chris) of Berlin, Germany, Allison Rice of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Gemma, Hanna, Ellie, Greyson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis Raben (Amber), Mike Raben (Laurel) all of Columbus, Georgia; other relatives.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
