Melanie Hewell McCallister

Melanie Hewell McCallister, age 64, of Lula, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Born on May 20, 1961, in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Edward and Willie Dove Hewell. Melanie was a 1979 graduate of East Hall High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed time with her children, gardening, canning, hunting, and her cats. Melanie will be remembered as a good friend who was always available to help those around her. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Samantha Dove McCallister (Clayton); son and daughter-in-law, Shannon Lamar McCallister (Katelyn); grandchildren, Cheyenne, Brantlee, Camden, Willow, and Kylan; aunts, Jerolene Dove and Margie House; numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are 11 am on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Liberty Baptist Church in Lula, with Keith McCallister and Dusty Porter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the funeral home.
