Betty Whitener Howard

Betty Whitener Howard, of Gainesville, GA passed peacefully on July 31st, 2025.  Betty was born on September 29th, 1942, in Lincoln County, NC where she spent most of her childhood. In 1990 she and her family moved to Gainesville, GA where she worked for the Hall County Chamber of Commerce. In 1993, she Joined the Norton Agency as Vice President of their Property Management Division where she became a respected and successful real estate broker and partner with Norton’s commercial and acreage group. If her clients were not already her friends, they would quickly become so. Her infectious personality and positive spirit always drew people in.

Betty cherished her time with friends and family, and happiest when there was sand between her toes with a side of fresh ocean breeze. One of her greatest pleasures was cooking for the people she loved, as it brought her tremendous joy.

Betty was also the first woman President of the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville and passionate about giving back to her beloved community.

Betty was preceded in death by her son, Richard Linville.

She is survived by her children: Jeff Linville, Larry Howard (Candace), Tommy Howard, Kristina Cantrell; grandchildren: Amelia Linville, Benjamin Linville, Isiah Howard, Jacob Howard, Levi Howard; and great-grandchild: Maddox Linville.

All are welcome to the Celebration of Life Service that will be held at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Gainesville, GA on August 7, 2025, with a reception to follow.
