Nanette Russell Nelson

Nanette Russell Nelson, age 65, of Buford, GA passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Nelson; parents, Julius and Anne Watson Nelson; sister, Anita Bradley.  Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband of thirty-three years, Herbert Lee Nelson of Buford; daughters, Kristina Nelson of Nashville, TN, Jessica Nelson of Buford; sisters, Joyce Russell of Stone Mountain, GA, Kathy Russell of Ellenwood, GA, Julie (Leonard) Belcher of Chicago, IL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Nelson was born on February 17, 1960 in Chicago, IL.  She was a 1978 graduate of Percy Julian High School located in Chicago, IL and a graduate of Southern University located in Baton Rouge, LA where she received her Bachelor’s Degree. Mrs. Nelson was a civil engineer with Lockheed Martin with over thirty years of service.  She was a member of Green Forest Community Baptist Church in Decatur, GA and loved baking. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025 with Pastor Stephen Fountain and Rev. Darryl Jenkins officiating at the First Baptist Church of Buford located in Buford.  Interment will follow at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Duluth, GA.  Mrs. Nelson will Lie-in-State at the Church where the family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., time of the Service.
