Dorothy "Dot" Brock, age 90, of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025. She was born on December 27, 1934, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late Thomas Brock Sr. and the late Verlin Langley Brock. Dot was preceded in death by her brother, James Brock. She is survived by her brother, Thomas Brock Jr. (Dianne) of Columbus; niece and nephews, Jennifer Donnell of Saint Peters, Missouri, Greg Brock of Columbus, Georgia, and Gary Brock of Columbus, Georgia. Numerous friends and other relatives also survive.
Dot dedicated her career to education, serving as a longtime professor at the University of North Georgia, where she imparted her knowledge of Biology to many students. Prior to her career at UNG, she served with the Southern Baptist Mission Board, embodying her deep faith through her work and community outreach. Dot was a cherished member of Dahlonega Baptist Church, where her faith played a central role in her life.
Known for her strength of will and kind-hearted nature, Dot had a profound love for animals, particularly horses and dogs. She maintained a farm in Dahlonega, where she raised horses and delighted in sharing them with campers at Ridge Crest camp. Throughout her life, Dot adopted numerous dogs, finding great companionship and joy in their company.
In accordance with her wishes, Dot will be cremated, with her ashes interred beside her father at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia. Her legacy of compassion, faith, and dedication to education will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
