Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Polly Ann Jordan Godfrey, age 82 of Maysville, Georgia who entered rest Thursday, July 24, 2025. Mrs. Godfrey was born in Commerce, Georgia a daughter of the late Erastus and Mildred Doss Jordan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Godfrey is preceded by her sister and brother in law, Melodee and Pat Hall and a brother Michael Jordan. Polly was a retired Vice President with First Georgia Bank having done many deals with just a handshake and a promise. Polly went by several names, but her two most favorite were Gamma and Nanny. She loved Spending time with family and friends and crocheting to pass her time.
Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Hillyer Godfrey. Two daughters Michelle Madden (Brent) and Marie Godfrey (Fiance Tony Crews). Her grandson, Patrick Madden (Teresa Dixon). Extended family; Keith and Cindy Hall, Kyle Hall, Sara Hall, Atleigh, Knox and Hudson. Two sisters in laws, Hilda Stanford and Cathy Cornett.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 28, 2025 from the Nicholson Baptist Church with Reverend Russ Brown and Reverend J.D. Sosebee officiating. Mrs. Godfrey will lie in state in the Church from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Evans Memory Gardens with Reverend Ray Gibbs officiating the Committal Service. Gentlemen honored as pallbears are, Rodney Clark, Ricky Whitlock, Ty Finch, Sam McDuffie, Anthony Bennett, Robin Jordan, Jon Kabel and Lamar Roberts. The family will receive friends 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home.
