Mrs. Patsy Ann Whisnant Simmons, age 85 of Toccoa passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Stephens County Hospital.
A daughter of the late Lloyd Whisnant and Jewell Burrell Whisnant, she was born December 18, 1939 in Stephens County, Georgia where she had lived all her life. She was a sister to eleven brothers and sisters and their spouses. She was employed with Wright’s Manufacturing for a number of years and later with Stephens County Hospital for 19 years before her retirement. Her time working with the Hospital Auxiliary was some of her best days. After her retirement, she would insist on driving through the hospital parking lot on occasion, just to see what was going on at “Her Hospital”. She loved everyone there from 1994 to 2013 and considered that her Glory Days at Stephens County Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved to crochet, watching every Atlanta Braves Game with her granddaughter, Ashton Simmons and loved the Georgia Bulldogs. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved all her grandchildren with all her heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Davis “CD” Simmons, grandson, Joshua Matthew Canady, and a number of brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bucky and Stephanie Simmons of Toccoa; daughter, Melissa Canady of Toccoa; grandchildren, Dusty and Sebrina Canady and Ashton Simmons; great-grandchildren, Zealee Canady, Chloe Canady, Lucas Canady, Danica Canady and Maverick Canady and great-great grandchild, Isla Wilson; a number of brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 17, 2025, 3 p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jamie Smith and The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Rusty Fulbright, Rod Moore, Dusty Canady, Lucas Canady and Ian Sertain.
The family will be at the home of Melissa Canady, 3805 Defoor Road, Toccoa and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from noon until the service time. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
