Martha Jane "Marti" Wickham

Martha Jane "Marti" Wickham, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at Heartis Senior Living in Suwanee, Georgia. She was 73 years old.

Marti was born on May 9, 1952, in Castalia, Ohio, to Harold and Marie Wahl. Raised on the family farm, she cultivated an early love for nature, community, and hard work. As a young girl, she was active in 4-H and would go on to become a proud graduate of The Ohio State University—an institution she held dear throughout her life.

After starting her family, Marti pursued a distinguished career as a Certified Public Accountant. She earned her CPA license and rose to become a partner at Haemmerle, Heximer, Harvey & Company. Marti’s intellect, diligence, and leadership were respected by her peers and admired by all who worked with her.

Her accomplishments extended far beyond her professional life. Marti was a Certified Master Gardener through The Ohio State University Extension Office, served as treasurer at Asbury Church, and was a regular donor to the American Red Cross. She gave generously of her time and talents, always seeking to better the world around her.

After retirement, Marti embraced her passion for travel, exploring the world with joy and curiosity. She loved spending time with family and friends, whether gardening in her yard, hosting gatherings in her home, trying new restaurants, or enjoying a glass of wine and a good card game. Her warm, welcoming nature made everyone feel at home.

A lifelong fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Marti brought the same spirit and enthusiasm to every corner of her life. She was thoughtful, articulate, kind, classy, and deeply supportive—a true mentor and role model to many.

Marti is preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard Wickham, her parents Harold and Marie Wahl, and her brother Harold Wahl. She is survived by her loving children, Cathleen (Tony) Weiss and Gary (Amber) Wickham; her cherished grandchildren Ben and Isabelle Wickham; step-grandchildren Noah and Amelia Weiss; her sister Elaine Wahl; and eight nieces and nephews, along with countless friends and extended family whose lives she touched.

Marti lived most of her life in Delaware, Ohio, before moving to Flowery Branch, Georgia, for her final years. Her legacy of love, generosity, and grace will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Her favorite prayer, the Serenity Prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr, encapsulated the peaceful strength with which she approached life: "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference."

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
