Edith Ann (Wurtsmith) Phillips

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edith Ann (Wurtsmith) Phillips. Edith passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 at the age of 89. She was one of eight children born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. In 1953 Edith married Robert “Bob” Phillips and together they moved to Georgia in 1955 and raised three sons. Edith was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She treasured every moment she go to spend with her family and friends. Edith was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star, and worked alongside Bob with the Shrine Organization.

Edith was preceded in death by her son Mark “Peanut” Phillips along with her father and mother, Harry and Isabelle Wurtsmith and her six brothers and one sister. She is survived by her loving husband Robert “Bob” Phillips, sons, Robert “Bobby” (Peggy) Phillips, Dale (Edie) Phillips along with six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Dee Dillin and Rev. Bobby Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 12 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Sunday from 12:00 noon until time for the service at 2:00 p.m.
