Edna McMillian Isaacs - July 16, 1941 – July 9, 2025
A Life of Love, Learning, and Legacy
Edna McMillian Isaacs, 83, of Snellville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A week shy of her 84th birthday, Edna left a legacy marked by deep faith, lifelong service to education, and devotion to her family and community.
Born in Finchville, Kentucky, to Edna and Andrew McMillian, Edna grew up with strong roots in faith, family, and perseverance. She graduated from Simpsonville High School and went on to earn her teaching degree from the University of Kentucky, where she was a proud member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Her love for learning continued with a Master’s Degree from Emory University and a Specialist Degree in early childhood education from Bernau University.
In 1965, she married William Owen Isaacs, the love of her life. Together they shared 60 joyful years of marriage, building a beautiful life grounded in mutual respect and love. In 1970, they moved to Georgia, eventually settling in Snellville in 1973, where they raised their family and built a thriving business—Green Acre Farms. For over three decades, Green Acre Farms was a local landmark known for its strawberries, blackberries, and landscape supplies. Families across Gwinnett County made it a tradition to visit during the summer harvest.
Edna’s passion for education led her to dedicate 38 years to Gwinnett County Public Schools. She taught at Centerville Elementary from 1975 to 1985, then helped open Norton Elementary in 1986, where she taught until her retirement. Her classrooms were filled with warmth, encouragement, and inspiration. She touched the lives of countless students and fellow educators, many of whom credit her with inspiring their own careers in education.
Beyond the classroom, Edna lived a life of purpose and adventure. She was a longtime member of Snellville First Baptist Church before joining Cross Pointe Church in Duluth. She and her husband traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states and exploring the world together—including a spiritual pilgrimage to the Holy Land, where she was baptized in the Jordan River.
She was an active supporter of her sons’ involvement in the AQHA Quarter Horse circuit, traveling throughout the Southeast for competitions and building lasting memories with her family. Edna was also a Master 4-Her and remained committed to youth development and community involvement throughout her life.
Edna is survived by her loving husband, William Owen Isaacs; her devoted sons, Mark Isaacs and Andrew Isaacs and his wife Allison; her cherished grandchildren, Connor, Kendall, Carter, and Garrett Isaacs; brother, Martian McMillian, and sister-in-law, Karen McMillian.
Edna will be remembered for her deep kindness, her boundless generosity, her love for children, and the countless lives she uplifted through teaching, mentoring, and community service. Her impact will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
