It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Walter Joe Fordham, who went home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2025, at the age of 94. A man of deep, unwavering faith, gentle strength, and quiet love, his life was a steady presence in the lives of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Dean Fordham. Their marriage was a true example of lifelong devotion, a bond rooted in faith, family, and unconditional love. As well as his parents and brother, Walter Fordham, Martha Fordham and Daniel Fordham.
Left to carry on his legacy are his daughter, Lynn Davis, and his granddaughters, Tamara Davis and Dena Free. He was a proud great-grandfather to Kaylea Ward (Sean Ward), Tanner Waddell, Lillie Frances Free, and Hayes Free. An even prouder great great-grandfather to Hadlee Hill, Ashlee Ward, Parker Ward, and Grady Ward. To each of them, he passed down not just his name, but his quiet strength, his steadfast love, and a legacy of faith that will continue to shape generations.
Joe was born and raised in Rentz, Georgia. He attended ABAC and later graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Agriculture. A devoted member of the Gideons International, he lived his life with intentional grace, deep faith, and unwavering humility. His family will carry his memory in the smallest and biggest ways in the warmth of a Georgia game or a Braves game, the sound of familiar hymns, and the unshakable love he gave so freely.
We take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his wife, in the arms of the Savior he served so faithfully.
