Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Antonio DeJesus Fernandez, age 78, of Hoschton, Georgia who entered rest Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Mr. Fernandez was born in Cuba the son of the late Jeso Antonio D. Fernandez and the late Hilda Yanes.
Mr. Fernandez worked as an I.T. at Mount Sinia Hospital, Miami Beach, Florida. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War and was awarded The Air Medal for Meritorious Achievement while participating in aerial flight. Mr. Fernandez was of the Catholic Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Diaz Fernandez of Hoschton, GA. Children, Gabriela Eckert of West Palm Beach, FL, Antonio D. Fernandez (Mercedes) of Miami, FL, James T. Sweet (Marie) of Silver Springs, FL and John R. Sweet of Stockbridge, GA. Brother, Frank Gonzalez of Austin, TX. Seven grandchildren also survive.
A funeral mass will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 11, 2025 from Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mr. William Schubring officiating. Burial will follow at Evans Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, July 11, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Evans Funeral Home.
