Carl Troy Woodbury, Jr.

Obituary Date: Monday, June 9, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Troy Woodbury, Jr., (“Troy”) a loving husband, devoted dad, cherished friend, and faithful servant of God, who left this world on June 9, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born on October 4, 1947 in Asheville, NC, Troy lived a life defined by generosity, humility, and unwavering love for those around him. He was the cherished husband of Lynn Woodbury, with whom he shared 50 beautiful years of marriage— a partnership rooted in deep respect, shared laughter, unconditional support, and a steadfast faith in God that guided their journey together.

As a dad, Troy was a steady guide and a constant source of strength. He is survived by his children, Blake (Jennifer) and Kimberly; and his grandchildren, Tyler, Kendall, Connor, and Addison, each of whom carry forward his legacy of integrity, resilience, warmth, and dependence on the Lord. His presence in their lives was a gift beyond measure—he was their protector, teacher, and biggest fan. Troy is also survived by his sister, Carol Peterson, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Troy Woodbury, Sr. and Annie Ruth Lane Woodbury.

To his family, friends, and colleagues, Troy was a loyal companion and a true listener. Whether through a quick smile, a helping hand, or a word of encouragement, he made everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was a testament not only to his deep compassion and open heart but also to his Christ-centered life. His kindness flowed from a genuine love for others, grounded in his faith and guided by his desire to live out God’s love each day.

Troy found joy in life’s simplest blessings—quiet moments spent reading, praying, swimming, sharing laughter with his grandchildren, and enjoying dinner with Lynn at their special table by the lake. He was passionate about encouraging others to allow the Holy Spirit to guide their lives and not make the mistakes he had made in his life. He was known for passing out gospel tracts and striking up conversations with everyone he encountered. These everyday moments reflected the greater love he held in his heart—for his family, his church, his community, and the beautiful life God had given him.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and enduring kindness. While the grief of his absence is immense, the memory of his character—strong, wise, and full of faith and love—will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

A service to honor Troy’s life will be held Saturday July 12, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at North Hall Church, 4091 Mt. Vernon Road, Gainesville, GA 30506. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to North Hall Church or Fellowship Tract League, a cause dear to his heart. He was passionate about passing out tracts and sharing the gospel.

He will be missed beyond words and remembered always.
