Judy Lorraine Edwards, age 76, of Gainesville passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family on June 10, 2025. A lifelong resident of Hall County, Georgia, Judy was a dedicated daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Most of all, she was a faithful Christian.
Born to Haskell and Florene Allison on February 18, 1949, Judy was the youngest of five children. She spent her early years on the family farm with her siblings, Mattie Belle (husband Wymer Jr.) Sampson, Bonnie (husband James) Elrod, Richard (wife Wyndal) Allison, and Ronald Allison. One Sunday morning in February of 1964 Judy attended Murrayville Baptist Church. On that day she met her future husband, Larry Edwards for the first time.
Larry and Judy were married on July 8, 1965. During their almost 60 years of marriage, they spent most of their time travelling, serving their church, and investing in the future generations of their family. In April of 1966, Judy became a mother, giving birth to her son, Kenneth, followed by Kevin in 1968. Judy gave birth to her late son Kyle in 1979.
Judy’s value of family is evident in the active role she played in the lives of her loved ones. Some of her favorite pastimes included participating in ministry, reading, playing cards, family genealogy, and studying music. She was family-famous for her cheese cakes, oatmeal cookies and biscuits.
Judy is survived by her husband Larry Edwards, sons Kenneth and Kevin (wife Angela) Edwards, siblings Bonnie (husband James) Elrod and Ronald Allison, grandchildren Austin (wife Alexis) Edwards, Ethan Edwards, Allie Edwards, Cody (wife Kellie) Mullinax, and Tiffany Mullinax. Judy is also Survived by 11 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday June 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Baker will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Thursday June 12 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
