Edward “Ed” Clayton Morgan

Obituary Date: Friday, June 6, 2025
Mr. Edward “Ed” Clayton Morgan, age 90, of Gainesville, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, following an extended illness. Born on July 4, 1934, in Buford, Georgia, he was the beloved son of the late E.C. and Hazel Mathis Morgan. On September 19, 1958, he married the love of his life, Martha Harrison Morgan, daughter of the late JC and Runelle Harrison.

In 1972, Ed and Martha moved from Sugar Hill to Flowery Branch, where they built a life filled with faith, friendship, and community. Over the course of more than 60 years, their neighbors became more than just familiar faces—they became family, forming a bond that grew into something truly special.
Ed had a deep appreciation for history, family ancestry, and antiques, but nothing brought him more joy than sharing his signature 'Dad Jokes.' His humor was a gift, filling a room with laughter and creating moments of joy that will be fondly remembered.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Martha H. Morgan; his children, Eddie (Pam), Larry (Jodi), and Robbie (Jill); his grandchildren, Harrison (Haley), Zachary (Emily), Cassie, Hannah (Tyler) Parten, and Matthew; his great-grandson, Reed; and his sisters-in-law, Ruth (Terry) Jones and Jan Harrison;  and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Doug Harrison, along with many beloved family members and friends. While deeply missed, he is now reunited with them in Heaven.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center and New Horizons LTC for their kindness and compassionate care.

A special thank you to the homebound ministry of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, where Ed and Martha have been longtime members.
