Jacqueline “Jackie” Gillespie Hutchinson
Jacqueline Gillespie Hutchinson, lovingly known as Jackie, passed away leaving behind a vibrant legacy of strength, wit, and depth that will never be forgotten.
Jackie was a woman of striking character — precise, direct, and practical, yet deeply intuitive and quietly patient. She lived unapologetically as herself, never shying away from truth or complexity. Her determination was unmatched, a true embodiment of sisu — inner strength in the face of challenge — and she moved through life with a colorful spirit and a keen, observant mind.
Jackie had a special way with animals, treating them with tender kindness, and her laughter could fill a room. She had a great sense of humor and loved to be pampered — especially when it came to getting her nails done. She lit up when she felt loved, and she cherished attention, especially when it was sincere. Jackie loved to dance, to listen to music, and to enjoy the simple comfort of a home-cooked meal prepared with care.
She found joy and order in tasks — always making lists and delighting in crossing each item off. Her talent for clerical work, and particularly typing, was something she took great pride in. She carried herself with a stylish grace — swish in every sense — elegant, put-together, and unmistakably herself.
Although she was incredibly practical, Jackie also had a love for language, beauty, and mystery. She was a prolific speller, a seeker of new words, and a belesprit — a person of wit and intelligence. To those who knew her, Jackie was sulit: rare and worth every moment shared.
She had a deeply rooted instinct to understand life, not just to witness it. Her presence left an impression that was esoteric, poignant, and profound — salient in its clarity and y?gen in its mystery. She leaves behind not just memories, but a feeling — one of being seen, being challenged, and being loved.
Jackie found great peace in knowing the people she loved were okay. And now, it is in honoring her life that we find comfort — in her laugh, her words, her rhythm, and the unwavering love she gave to those she held close.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
She is survived by her loving daughter, who was her caregiver for the last 9 years, Julianne Nancy Hutchinson; ex-husband and friend, Garry Charles Hutchinson; siblings, Ann (Larry) Tanner, Janet (Doug) Haynes, and Beth (Frank) Verona; nieces and nephew, Sandi Ertzberger, Michael Ertzberger, Katie Haynes and Darby Poole; along with many other loving relatives and friends.
