Angela Pearl Alexander Knauer passed away at Atrium Health Cabarrus on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
Angela was born on January 25, 1965, to the late Curtis Alexander and Ora Pearl Fain Alexander. Being the youngest of three and the only daughter certainly had its privilege for Angela. From the time she was a little girl Angela possessed the unique quality to find good in almost any person or circumstance, never seeming to become upset or negative at the things life threw at her. She inherited her Daddy’s personality in that she never met a stranger, if she did, they weren’t for long and she possessed the talents of her Mother in her homemaking and was especially talented in what she called her “handiwork” creating some of the most beautiful needlepoint pictures. She viewed this as a form of relaxation
Growing up, Angela had a relatively normal childhood going to school, her church and spending time with her friends. She enjoyed school and valued the relationships she formed there. Following graduation Angela moved to Phillipsburg, Montana, a small corner of the Big Sky Country, where she would spend the next several years. Loving a simple life, Angela fell in love with the beautiful mountains, rivers and streams that it was known for, and the small-town life that she was used to growing up in. It was in Philipsburg that she met and married her late husband Marvin Knauer and they would have an amazing son, Alex. While Phillipsburg had become her home, she never forgot her roots in Cleveland, often asking about her friends and keeping in touch with many. She volunteered at the H&R Thrift Store where she would aspire to become manager. She loved thrift stores and this gave her the perfect opportunity to put that passion to work with her eye for simple design with window dressings and store presentations. This would help make H&R a non- profit that supplemented the local hospital and nursing home with much needed equipment hugely successful. Later Angela would fulfill another passion of working with children by becoming a substitute school teacher with the local school in town.
Following the death of her husband Marvin, Angela moved back to Georgia where she would live until her death. She was excited to reconnect with many of those she had not seen or talked to in years and of course making many new friends as well as attending Cleveland First Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Angela is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Knauer and longtime companion, Jeff Clark.
Survivors include her son, Alex Knauer and his companion Danelle Rohrich of Great Falls, MT; brothers, Brian Alexander and wife Connie, and Anthony Alexander and wife Karen; as well as several nephews, nieces and great nieces, all of whom she deeply cherished.
The family would like to thank the staff at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord, NC who took such good care of Angela in her last months and did so with unwavering compassion. You are truly a blessing, and we shall never forget you.
